Elk Photograph 8x10 by KneeDeepOriginals
This is one of my favorite pieces. This photograph by KneeDeepOriginals is full of soft light and features kinship with and respect for the natural world, and of course, it is ripe with the importance of companionship, even among the elk. It speaks to my desire to help people understand the beauty of these animals and all wildlife, to respect the world around us, and to be aware of our individual actions in regard to the outcome and consequences of human behaviors throughout the animal kingdom and our planet. It is a reminder to "walk in harmony with the universe." This is often my intent with my art, and it is why I donate a percentage of my artwork featuring animals, and often other nature pieces, to a variety of animal charities.

Crow Watercolor by KneeDeepOriginals
This piece by KneeDeepOriginals fits the theme not only because its feature is a crow, but also because of the text that I added to the piece, which speaks about the sky and the wind and the life they bring. It's is one of my favorites.
As always, I work diligently within my local community for abandoned, homeless and neglected animals by supporting my local Humane Society (which has nailed down and squashed a couple of puppy mills recently!!) and our animal shelter. Most of my animal art, and some of my other art, benefits these animals and those who work tirelessly for them. And many times when I sing, it benefits the fundraising of animal charities.

Bluebird Garden Painting by KneeDeepOriginals
Bluebird Garden by KneeDeepOriginals features one of the many birds who visit my yard and garden. We have a bluebird house on a corner post in our garden which is inhabited by a nesting pair this year. They fly in and out, sit watch in the pear tree or on a nearby post, as the chickens wander below, throughout the garden. I'm an avid bird watcher, as is quite noticeable when you visit my shop, and I make sure to feed them and provide water for them year-round, and especially throughout the winter.
Five percent of the sale of this item will be donated to my local Humane Society... a very active and important organization for animals in our rural county.

Coco 8x10 Watercolor Painting by KneeDeepOriginals
This is a watercolor painting by KneeDeepOriginals is of a shelter dog who was fortunate enough
to find his FURever home.
All proceeds of the sale of this painting, minus fees and shipping, will be donated to the building project of our shelter so that there is more room to house more homeless animals and help them find homes. Recently I sold an oil painting on Etsy that I did in memory of a precious kitten who did not find a home. The money from that sale also went to benefit our local homeless critters. It is at least something I can do since I can't adopt them all!

Pitt Bull Mix Original Watercolor Portrait by KneeDeepOriginals
This watercolor by KneeDeepOriginals is a study of my dog Cooper. Cooper is the light of our lives, or one of them (since we have three dogs and a grandpuppy who spends a lot of time with us, and a cat), and we adopted her from a home a ways down the road when the owner could no longer care for her. She is our first pitt bull mix, and we were simply amazed at her friendliness, her cuddliness, her exuberance, her intelligence, her faithfulness, and her ability to get along so well with our other animals, including the cat!
A portion of the sale of this painting will go to my local animal shelter's renovation fundraiser. We have a large number of stray and homeless animals in our county due to folks not spaying and neutering, and some who just let the animals go. The shelter, along with our Humane Society and a nonproft animal rescue group, all work together, with a local vet, to care for these animals and to try and find them homes. Recently an art show opened at our local art gallery which benefits the shelter's renovation project. I painted two pieces specifically for this show, and all sales will go directly to the shelter. I also hung the show since the shelter staff wasn't skilled in that area. I try to be very involved with all of these organizations, either through my art or my music, or simply posting and sharing the animals needing homes on Facebook or in emails. Every effort we make is so important for these precious souls.

Winter Snow and Dog Art Photograph by KneeDeepOriginals
This is my grandpuppy Empi, named for the maker of Volkswagen parts, who was with us during a snowfall last winter. For me, this photograph from KneeDeepOriginals clearly shows the connection between animals and earth, and hidden beneath that is my love of and respect for the animal world and the lessons that animals teach us. Here, the lesson is to celebrate being present in the moment (Be Here Now) and to take time for peaceful reflection. Both are so important in our lives.
Empi is often part of our animal pack as her person (my son) travels quite a bit for work. She was a pound puppy as is one of our dogs. The other two are rescues, as is our cat, Scout. One of our dogs is a visitor to our nearby community hospital, where she enjoys the folks there who give her pets and hugs, and where she brings a smile to many faces.

Abstract Halloween Print by KneeDeepOriginals

This altered photograph by KneeDeepOriginals features ravens and shadows that complement the spookiness of the October challenge.
As always, I am dedicated to helping the cause of homeless animals in my community and counties beyond by promoting those in shelters and foster homes, by donating portions of my sales to these organizations, and by donating art and music for their benefits, fundraisers, and events.
We currently have three rescue dogs and one rescue cat in our home, some of many we've had over the years, and they are so much a part of our lives, I can't imagine living without their wonderful companionship and love. It is for that reason that I work at educating folks about fostering animals and adopting pets through shelters and rescue orgs. rather than purchasing full bloods from individuals and/or pet stores.

Cow Portrait Watercolor Painting by KneeDeepOriginals
Cows are some of KneeDeepOriginals' favorite animals, and after a recent trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway up into Virginia, where we saw several fields of grazing cows, I was inspired to do this new painting of a black and white cow against a pale blue sky.
I have three rescue dogs and a rescue cat and four chickens who enjoying roaming in my garden. But never do the dogs and chickens meet, except by staring at one another on occasion through the garden fence. Surprisingly, the cat seems little interested in the chickens.... she's pretty smart as I believe their claws would tear her apart. Outside of my own animals, I am involved in local fundraisers for the two county rescue organizations here as well as nearby county Humane Societies. I donate art, and occasionally music, in order to raise money for the care of the animals, education, spaying and neutering clinics, and I help with adoption. I wish I could do fostering as well, but at this time it's just not possible. One day, perhaps.

One Fish Two Fish Bookmark by KneeDeepOriginals
From a vintage ivory piano key comes a lovely little bookmark by KneeDeepOriginals, a perfect gift for any reader, but especially for one who loves the ocean and the water. I have etched an under-the-sea ocean scene of fish, seaweed, bubbles, starfish and waves using the traditional scrimshaw method.
A portion of my sales is donated to animal charities. I am also a strong advocate for spaying and neutering in my rural area because there are so many neglected and wandering animals who die from lack of care, starvation, or injuries sustained from being hit on roadways.

Leaves of Love Oil Painting by KneeDeepOriginals

This painting by KneeDeepOriginals was inspired by a bush of sorts that grows in our back yard. I'm not sure what it is, but I love its heart-shaped leaves and its beautiful greens and golds. The photo below depicts the lovely plant.

I've been involved with EFA for two years now. Locally, I support the Humane Society in two counties as well as a local nonprofit animal rescue group in several ways: fund-raising with music and visual art projects; sharing personally and on FB about animals ready for adoption; donating some percentage of my work and sales. I am also a strong advocate for spaying and neutering in my rural area because there are so many neglected and wandering animals who die from lack of care, starvation, or injuries sustained from being hit on roadways.

Winter Song Painting by KneeDeepOriginals

It's a silvery winter woods scene under close observation by a tufted titmouse as the snow begins to fall in this painting by KneeDeepOriginals. This scene is very much a winter wonderland like we had this year in NC... the first truly White Christmas I'd seen since I was a little girl growing up in Massachusetts!
I have been a member of EFA for a year and a half, having been on Etsy for almost two years. I participate artistically and musically with fundraisers and events for local animal charities, including the Humane Society in two counties and a non-profit rescue organization. Living in a very rural and relatively poor county, I work to educate friends, neighbors, and the community at large about humane animal / pet care, important vaccinations, nutrition, and spay/neutering. It's incredible (and often saddening) what some folks just don't know or think about! My husband and I have three rescue dogs and a rescue kitty.

The Growing Season Notecards by kneedeeporiginal's shop

This wonderfully bright and lively set of four butterfly notecards was created from my original abstract and pop art oil paintings. Each image was printed on high-quality photographic paper and then placed on acid- and lignin-free blank cards which are beautifully embossed with a flowering vine design. These vibrant cards measure 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, and white envelopes are included.
I donate my art and music to support local animal charities: the Humane Society of Forsyth County and Animal Rescue of Stokes County. I also promote awareness of the need for foster families for dogs. All of my dogs were strays, unwanted pets, or pound puppies... there's just nothing better!

Pop Art Pets in Oil by Kneedeeporiginals' Shop

This piece features a big, bright lily, and it's also a pet portrait listing, which both fits the theme and is promoting animals! The title of this particular piece is Life in the Garden. The artist is currently involved in a fundraiser for a local Humane Society... Art Unleashed http://www.forsythhumane.org/ And will also be singing at a Community Music event with her band sponsored by the community church. The money raised will benefit two local non-profits... the first is the Animal Rescue of Stokes County, which she tries to support with sales from certain paintings listed in her Etsy shop, and the other is the local nursing home, where proceeds will benefit the residents who often have no money and no family able to provide for them. She sings twice a month for these wonderful old folks. Here's a link to ARSC: http://www.animalrescueofstokescounty.com/ and a link to the music event on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/event.php?eid=359255327955&ref=mf

Scout's on Watch Oil Painting by KneeDeepOriginals

Nothing gets past a cat! They are so observant, ever on the alert for movement, comings and goings, the footsteps of friends and strangers, the sound of a can opener. And Scout is no different... she sees it all and takes it all in, taking action if action is required. This is a 12 x 16 oil on canvas of a relaxed but very observant cat... which they need to be when Halloween rolls around. And they need to be INSIDE since too many bad things have happened to cats on Halloween.
I will donate 10% of the sale of this painting to my local animal rescue group, Animal Rescue of Stokes County, as listed in my description in my Etsy shop.
