Black Face Sheep Ruggle by bewhiskered

Black Face Sheep are some of the softest, poofiest farm animals on the farm! This security blanket by bewhiskered, made of super soft minky fur with a fleece belly, is one sheep you won't mind counting at night. Snuggled with your child, this sheep will ease him or her into soft, comfy sleep.

I donate 10% of Bewhiskered's profits each year to an animal charity. For 2011 my chosen charity is PBRC: Pit Bull Rescue Central.

Western Dreamer Horse Drawing by terikor

Looking at the theme for the September challenge, there are all types of farms with some specializing in a particular animal or product whether it be a dairy farm or a horse farm, etc. I decided that the horse would be the best way I could exemplify this month’s theme. Having spent time in Lexington, KY enjoying the scenic landscape of lush grass on the rolling hills and the magnificent horse farms with every type of equine breed, my horse art began to evolve into a softer and looser style. The influence of this trip was very apparent as I began to draw a series of horses in pastels called my “Dream Series”. Western Dreamer by terikor is one of my favorites of this series. In this drawing using a soft palette, allowing the horse's emotional state to best be depicted.

At this time a percentage of all my horse artwork benefits
Thoroughbred Placement and Rescue. This horse rescue is located in Maryland and I discovered it when someone involved with the rescue purchased one of my drawings. Although they purchased a drawing of a cat and dog, I decided to begin donating to this horse charity on all my equine art.

Cat and Mouse Earrings by chickadeejewelry

Many cats (and mice) live on farms, just like the ones adorning these earrings by chickadeejewelry. I volunteer for Ca-R-Ma (Cat Rescue Maritimes), an organization that runs a trap-neuter-return program for feral cats. When needed, we provide shelter and food for the cats. Whenever possible, kittens are fostered and adopted. Many of the cats we care for live on farms.

I donate 10% of my sales to Ca-R-Ma. I also regularly donate cat-themed jewelry with 100% of sales of these go to Ca-R-Ma.

Retro Farm Silk Tapestry Box by brizel4TheAnimals

Cluck cluck... Can't have no farm without a retro chicken, lol!

Henrietta Hen by brizel4TheAnimals is a way cool soft fiber arts container featuring golden yellow banana silk yarn paired with a white silk sari yarn that has red & black highlights. It has a lid of its own which is embellished with a vintage ceramic chicken button cover.

Henrietta spent most of the mornin' at the beauty salon. Her white dots are perfectly symmetrical on her feathers and her beak has been preemed to the vibrant yellow she loves so much. She's ready for the big Chicken Polka Dance tonight !

This fun farm animal Silk Tapestry Art Box measures approx: 3 1/2" in diameter x 3" high with an interior box of 2" in diameter x 2 1/4" high.

***

I own some 20 acres up in the mountains where I have planted orchards and floral gardens. Personal funds are put towards helping to sustain this habitat which attracts birds, butterflies, bees, bats, hummingbirds... and it is also a seasonal mating ground for dragonflies ! Twilight is part of a 2,000 acre ranch out in the chaparral wilderness where wild animals still roam.

I provide a home for my animal rescues, create & maintain habitat for wildlife to prosper, support animal welfare through petition & animal advocacy work, donate 10% of my Silk Tapestry Art Box sales to EFA's Charity of the Month, and promote & support Team EFA members through Etsy Treasuries & the EFA blog. Sammy the Needle Felted Kitty by Gheegles

Growing up on the farm when I was a little girl, we always had stray cats we fed and during the start of the fall season. Sunflowers would grow along the edge of the fences that kept the cattle in. So my newest inspiration for this needle felted kitty by Gheegles came from my childhood memories!

I donate a portion of my sales to a monkey rescue center. However, this month in honor of my challenge submission, I have decided to donate 25% of the sales of this item to the EFA Charity of the Month!

Cow Portrait Watercolor Painting by KneeDeepOriginals

Cows are some of KneeDeepOriginals' favorite animals, and after a recent trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway up into Virginia, where we saw several fields of grazing cows, I was inspired to do this new painting of a black and white cow against a pale blue sky.

I have three rescue dogs and a rescue cat and four chickens who enjoying roaming in my garden. But never do the dogs and chickens meet, except by staring at one another on occasion through the garden fence. Surprisingly, the cat seems little interested in the chickens.... she's pretty smart as I believe their claws would tear her apart. Outside of my own animals, I am involved in local fundraisers for the two county rescue organizations here as well as nearby county Humane Societies. I donate art, and occasionally music, in order to raise money for the care of the animals, education, spaying and neutering clinics, and I help with adoption. I wish I could do fostering as well, but at this time it's just not possible. One day, perhaps.

Nuno Felted Scarf in Warm Tones by BlindSquirrel

This nuno felted scarf by BlindSquirrel has the colors of barns, sunsets, and fields. Like a lovely piece of wearable abstract art, the scarf is done by “nuno felting” where loose wool and fabric are literally forced together manually through a physical process, and is all done by hand.

I work as the webmaster for team EFA and donate to the ASPCA monthly.

Cat Pumpkin Handbag by catcalls

September on the farm is a harvest month which includes pumpkins! And of course no farm is complete without a cat patrolling about. This handbag by catcalls combines the two into a catkin purse. It is made with fall colored cotton fabric, quilted to a layer of fleece on the inside. Face and legs are made with a black velveteen.

10% of this sale will go the
charity of the month, and I hope to have enough to send a little over to Chriss at the Feral Cat Rescue as well.

I am currently the official tweeter for the team and contribute to blogs.

I Know What You Did Print by JenniferLynnProducts

"I Know What You Did" is an altered version of a photo by JenniferLynnProducts. It was taken near Sharpsburg, MD in February of 2009 and is of a barn behind twisted, knotted branches - a great fit for our September challenge!

Jennifer is owned by 8 rescued cats. Though she no longer takes animals in and is unable to foster, Jennifer helps out in any way she can: donating time/money/goods/food, helping with on-the-ground rescues, forwarding posts via social networking sites regarding animals in need of help and ongoing rescue operations.

Jennifer loves all animals, even the "scary" or "ugly" ones.

Hand Knit Owl Beverage Cozy by knitbyvalerie

Every farm needs a few barn owls! This listing features a set of four beverage cozies by knitbyvalerie, each with a subtle cable-knit owl motif.

Ivolunteer for efa as the blog promoter as well as doing whatever I can for my favorite local shelters, which are all listed in my shop announcement. My family currently includes 6 rescues (8, if you include the humans) and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Piglet Dog Hat by jessicalynneart

I have always wanted to live on a farm with a pet pig like Wilbur in "Charlotte's Web". Since I couldn't have one, pugs seemed like a great idea. After all, they have curly tails, squished noses, and only one letter to their name is different. Now I can have both loves with this little pig hat by jessicalynneart.

I am the challenge blog volunteer for our wonderful team and I also donate to several animal charities. The rescues that I most often support are Pug Rescue of New England, which helped me to adopt my first pug, and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA). I will be a vendor and walker with Team All You Need is Pug at the MSPCA's annual Walk for Animals in Newbury, MA on September 11. If you will be there, be sure to say 'hello'!

Handsome Black Crow Tags by EllaQuaint

These tags, which have been lovingly aged to prim perfection with a mixture of coffee and vanilla, have been created by EllaQuaint and complement the farm challenge because you find lots of crows in the cornfields.

I am a feral cat caretaker and now have some hungry racoons and possums joining in for nightly snacks.

I'm tending my second crop of catnip to be cut and dried for kitty items.

10% of my sales are donated to the Charity of the Month or the Feral Cat Rescue.

A Mother's Love Print by epicfarms

This photograph by epicfarms was taken the morning of Taya's birth, (she was born right in front of us and is barely 30 minutes old :o) The sun was coming up and bathed the stall in light, creating a beautiful visual for God's miracle of life.
