Kitty Cat Original Watercolor by catcalls

The wall of this home may be icy blue, but the hearts that live within guarantee warmth and love that is given daily to their sweet kitty! This is an original painting by catcalls done with watercolor pencil and ink.

I am a cheerleader for Chriss of the Feral Cat Rescue in Oregon, trying to help with expenses for her rescue and to spread the word about adoptable kitties. I also tweet for EFA as @Etsy4Animals and encourage all who use twitter to follow and retweet all items tagged with #teamefa.

Snowy White and Early Nights Midcentury Style Pet Necklace by scrappyrat

The Snowy White and Early Nights Necklace by scrappyrat was created in honor of the cold evenings when the sun sets by 5:00, but it would be gorgeous for any season!

I have many designated charity items with 100% of their sale going to the EFA COTM. I also foster pets for Carolina Pet Rescue, and look for any occasion to speak out on the protection of animals' rights.

Lamb Watercolor Painting by ThimbleSparrow

This sweet watercolor of a wintry white lamb by ThimbleSparrow is dedicated to Carmen, a little lamb who was rescued by Animal Place - a farm animal rescue. Her leg was in very bad condition and had to be amputated leaving her with the need for a prosthetic leg. She is doing so well adjusting to her new life but because she is still growing she will need a new prosthetic leg periodically until she is fully grown.

20% of the proceeds for this painting will be going to Animal Place to help little Carmen in her recovery as well as all the animals at their sanctuary.

I donate regularly to my favorite animal charities and donate a percentage of the proceeds from all of my original paintings to animal charities as well. I also particiapte in the EFA Charity Of The Month program.

Ravenwood Cashmere Bear by yarnmiracle

This Bear from yarnmiracle is beautiful and winter white. He is made from cashmere, the most hibernation-inducing fiber on the planet! That's not just any cashmere, it's sustainable cashmere grown in Washington state by the happy and well cared for goats of Ravenwood Farm. Visit Delia's blog when you visit her site for some wonderful stories about the goats and the amazing dogs who look after them.

Here at home, I measure the coldness of the nights by the number of cats in my bed in the morning. Last night was a three cat night. I suspect that is going to be the trend for the rest of the season.

Snuggle up!

Ice Flake Quartz Peace Bracelet by sue8261

This bracelet from EFA newcomer sue8261 is both icy and winter white, and guaranteed to chase away the blues. The bracelet features sparkling nuggets of ice flake quartz, opalescent Swarovski crystals, a sterling silver squiggle and a sterling silver peace symbol. I hope this bracelet conveys a message of joy and peace for the new year. As is the case for all bracelets in my Etsy shop, 100% of the sales proceeds from this bracelet will benefit a wonderful organization called Animal Rescue Corps (ARC).

I have been helping animals most of my life through advocacy, adoption, monetary donations and volunteer work. As a jewelry artist, my goal is to help animals by donating a portion of my sales revenue to humane charities. Approximately half of the items in my Etsy shop are 100% charity donations (to our team’s charity of the month or ARC). In addition, I donate jewelry and my original nature photography note cards to humane organizations for sale in their gift shops and at fundraisers and charity raffles. I work especially closely in this regard with my local humane society, the Palo Alto Humane Society, but am always looking for new opportunities to partner with organizations that work to benefit animals.

Arctic Frolic Polar Bear Pastel Drawing by terikor

There is no better animal that exemplifies a wintery white than the Polar Bear; therefore terikor chose the Arctic Frolic, a pastel drawing of a Polar Bear to be my challenge entry for the January Challenge “Winter Whites and Icy Blues”. There is something about the Polar Bear that draws people in especially some of their delightful antics. My drawing of the Polar Bear is created in a gestural manner. The head of the Polar Bear is defined but I use lines to indicate the body. With the assumption that less is more, I let your eye fill in the rest. In the case of Arctic Frolic the polar bear seems to be playing around with his hind in the air.

Unfortunately the polar bear is listed as a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act because of Global Warming. By choosing the Polar Bear to represent Etsy for Animals January challenge theme, I am also letting people know that we need to assist in saving the Polar Bear from extinction. Consequently my choice of charity for Arctic Frolic my Polar Bear drawing is Polar Bear International since they are one of the most well known Charities assisting in research and helping the Polar Bear.

Cats in the Snow Print by LolaLynn

Sophia and Dubinsky are having so much fun in the snow! Truth be told, Dubinsky would be the only one having a great ole time in the snow, crazy cat that he is. Sophia would NEVER venture forth from her basket in front of the radiator to partake in such silliness.

This listing is for an 8 1/2 by 11 hand embellished print of an acrylic painting by the same name. Printed on acid free cardstock, the print by LolaLynn is enhanced with acrylic paints. Each embellished print is OOAK - no 2 being exactly alike.

10% of every item sold in our shop with the exception of the turtle paintings, is donated to EFA's Charity of the Month Program. 50% of our "Matthew and Me" turtle paintings go to turtle rescue and rehab.

Gold Necklace with Blue Lolite Stones by diggerbren

This is a beautiful, delicate 14 karat gold filled chain necklace with 16 little deep blue iolite stones shows love for the stark blues of stormy days. Created by diggerbren, it is sure to bring a bit of beauty to your winter days.

I donate monthly to Defenders of Wildlife, Humane Society of the United States and Alley Cat Allies and our dogs Franklin and Eleanor are rescues from the Arizona Animal Welfare League. Our newest cat was living with his Arizona Humane Society foster mom (a customer at my real job), but all his sisters were called back up to the big leagues without him, so we got a free kitty! Technically, he isn't a shelter cat, since he never had to go down there, but I like to think he got lucky and skipped a step.

Organic Dog Cinnamon Spice Spray by PETfection

This blue bottle from Petfection is filled with Winter Spice Spray, a limited edition organic body spray. This is a fun way to have your pet smell festive! :)

I regularly walk dogs and provide pet sits for a company in the area. Usually when I donate to a cause I like to find a local charity to support. This last year I was helping out with an animal adoption center in my town.

Blue Snowflake Dog Collar by AstridNicoleEtcetera

With it's blue background and snowflakes, this collar by AstridNicoleEtcetera is surely 'icy blue'.

Ever since adopting Astrid in 2006, I've wanted to give back to the shelter. In 2008, I started our AstridNicoleEtcetera shop and have donated the net proceeds ever since.

Winter Snow and Dog Art Photograph by KneeDeepOriginals

This is my grandpuppy Empi, named for the maker of Volkswagen parts, who was with us during a snowfall last winter. For me, this photograph from KneeDeepOriginals clearly shows the connection between animals and earth, and hidden beneath that is my love of and respect for the animal world and the lessons that animals teach us. Here, the lesson is to celebrate being present in the moment (Be Here Now) and to take time for peaceful reflection. Both are so important in our lives.

Empi is often part of our animal pack as her person (my son) travels quite a bit for work. She was a pound puppy as is one of our dogs. The other two are rescues, as is our cat, Scout. One of our dogs is a visitor to our nearby community hospital, where she enjoys the folks there who give her pets and hugs, and where she brings a smile to many faces.

Light Blue Cable-knit Fingerless Gloves by knitbyvalerie

These sky blue cable-knit gloves from knitbyvalerie remind me of the sharp blue sky of a sunny winter day. The yarn base is from a small batch dyer here in Maine!

I am the blog promoter for our team (you may have gotten an e-mail or two from me) and regularly support my local animal shelters through adoption, donations, and promoting adoptions whenever possible.
