I like to donate to animal causes that help "make a difference." Defender's of Wild Life is one of my favorite animal charities. The wolves of the Northern Rockies need our help, and this is one of the areas that Defender's of Wild Life has continally worked to ensure the wolves right to peacefully coexist with us humans. They also are working with federal agencies to help the future of the polar bears and this is another area I am deeply concerned with. I also donate a portion of the sales from my Twisted Whiskers items to EFA, AWBAR and our local PRAR (Priest RiverAnimal Rescue.)

The collage painting promotes happiness and respect and hopefully this leads to peace!

A layer of quilter's batting (padding) between the outer fabric and linning adds shape. Each square piece is individually hand pieced then machine stitched together. Measures: 15" wide x 10" tall x 3" side depth & 11" drop (22" end to end) shoulder straps.
Angels bring a message of peace. This item makes a great gift for a friend, family member or a nice little gift for yourself to get into the holiday spirit.

Animal and Nature Photo Cards Set of 4 with Envelopes by LittleStudioJewels
It fits the theme of peaceful animals/nature, loving nature and animals, being grateful that they are in my life, and wanting to share that with the rest of the world (plus 10% of the sale goes to a worthy charity-of-the-month!). http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=150364782.
I have always felt more at ease with animals than people, and they have always seemed more at ease with me than other people also! For this reason, although I can't afford to keep millions of shelter animals (though I'd love to, trust me!), each month I donate 10% of my total sales before taxes and shipping to a different worthy charity, such as the World Wildlife Fund of Canada, Rescue 100 (for horses), Rideau Valley Wildlife Sanctuary (for the wild paws), The Country Cat Sanctuary, etc., as much as possible.
I am also now learning to crochet tiny animals, called amigurumi, to make into cat toys that I can donate to a local cat sanctuary for their cats, and as a potential fundraiser for them to sell to visitors and new (cat) adoptive parents.

Christmas doggie bottlecap Christmas Tree by tealcatfan
I had so much fun making this I hope to make many more. The theme this month is Peace to all Animals. I made my collage tree with many different dog faces and at the very top is the angel resting on a gift box.
The frame measures 15½" X 12½". The backing is made of Red Glitter Felt. I hand braided gold textured rick rack to make the basic form of the tree. The tree is embellished with Bottle Caps of Dog faces, holiday stars, a few Dog buttons and a couple pieces of Vintage Jewelry. As the tree topper I found a old ornament with this hound dog on the present sleeping and I just gave him wings and attached to the topper. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=17209541
100% of the sale of this item will go to Animal Charity. My current Charity of Choice is A Chance for Bliss.

Needle Felted Cats on a Mini Pumpkin Donation for EFA
Congratulations Bluewhimsy. This item has sold.
This little creation is 3" tall, including the stem, and a little over 2" wide. In addition to the vines, I needle felted a momma cat and her three kittens to create a little knick knack for the cat lover who thinks she already has every type of cat decoration! It was made from several shades of orange wool - no thread or glue was used. The stem and vine is a wool/silk blend. This listing is for the pumpkin with the cats only; not for any of the other felted items in the photos.
25% of the sale of this item will go to the etsy for animals team charity of the month.
Right now in my shop I have items for sale to contribute to AWBAR, Rolling Dog Ranch Animal Sanctuary, Houston SPCA (Hurricane Ike), Humane Society of Eastern NC, the EFA charity of the month and Pumpkin. I have been involved in rescue work for close to 40 years and my own little family consists of 8 rescued critters, including a cat who is 21 years old!!

Crocheted Pet BED with Pillow by pollyspawprint
I made this adorable crocheted pet bed from a vintage pattern book. It can be used by a kitty or small dog or puppy. I made this one with a cute kitty 100% cotton print. Mischievous kitties are holding fishbowls with the caption "No Fishing Allowed". It's background is lime green with blue and yellow stripes topped with brown kitties and blue fishbowls. I backed it with a soft lime green fleece (which can be put face up during the colder months for warmth). I've filled the pillow just right with soft 100% polyester fill.
Your kitty will love curling up on it for his afternoon nap! For the crocheted bed, I used triple yarns for the sides to make it sturdy; one lime green, one forest green and a multi-color consisting of yellow, blue and lime green. I crocheted the bottom using double yarns; lime green and forest green. I finished it off by winding a bright satin ribbon, with smiling dog and cat faces, through the outside of the bed and made cheerful bows on either side of the opening.
This bed measures 12 inches in width X 18 inches in length X 4 inches high. I can make a custom order bed in any of the prints seen in my other listings if you prefer. Larger sizes can also be made for an additional charge.

Halloween Cat-Nipper Beastie Cat by Uberdupercreartions
A wonky pillowy cat-nip creature for your beast friend. These cuddly cat-nip beasties are larger than a catnip toy and über fun for active kitties.
This fella is 12" from toe to ear tip. My cat attacks these with all fours while holding it in her mouth, and then does a couple of laps around the house before needing a nap. Sweet Dreams!
All new materials outside, polyfil & Organic Catnip filling. The second photo shows the fabric that I used for the back side of this kooky cat.
Washing not recommended because of the catnip inside, but you can wipe the outside with a damp cloth.Happy Halloween Cat Challenge EFA Team!

Black and white treasury from Cynmb
When the B'day Bash excitement is over and things are winding down. When treasuries featuring the Team EFA Store have become a rarer and rarer sight, who can we count on to come up with a fantabulous treasury?
Yep you got it right... Cyn!! :D
I don't know if she hadn't made any in a while or if I'd been missing them but here is a gorgeous "Black and white" treasury by her after a long time...
Admire, click, comment, support... :)
until next time (which I hope is soon),
- Susmitha :)

Halloween catnip mouse by VivaLeChat
"Trick or treat," chirps your kitty. How about a Halloween treat especially made for him or her? Made of super bright orange, white, and black acrylic yarn. Very sturdy design with tight-knit gauge to prevent the catnip from spilling out. This mouse will last for a very long time! Each mouse is approximately 3.5-4.5 inches long not including tail. I fill with only catnip (no cotton filler or other sort of stuffing) and use Cosmic Catnip (a brand of super-potent catnip available at lots of pet stores).
I lost my kitty to heart failure on June 23, 2008, but want to help other people facing similar financial difficulties. A third of the proceeds from my mice will be going to IMOM.org, an organization that raises funds for low-income families with prohibitively high vet expenses.
