An adorable Albuquerque Prairie Dog stands against a subtle background of cacti and sun to fit our July Challenge theme: Sun and SummerAnimal Friends.I photographed this little prairie dog in my neighborhood, where one of many urban colonies of prairie dogs struggles to survive. Thanks to Prairie Dog Pals, a local Albuquerque non-profit, they receive food donations (which they need to survive) and relocations (when their habitat is threatened).
Right now, Prairie Dog Pals is in urgent need of donations to help relocate a colony of prairie dogs that a church is threatening to destroy.
