Little Raven Watercolor by thebluewindmill

Ravens are lovely creatures of the night (and day). This watercolor painting by thebluewindmill is titled, "Little Raven". A little raven sits on a branch surrounded by orange morning glories.

My family recently adopted a boxer/hound mix who was on death row at a shelter and rescued by Recycled Doggies, nursed back to health over a period of months, and adopted by us.

In The Dark Cat Note Cards by terikor

All cats prowl around at night. If you are the proud owner of one you have often heard them going bump in the night. The black cat is probably the most representational bumper in the night as it can be scary and ominous especially as Halloween approaches. Black cats are thought to be superstitious to some and are the hardest to place in rescue. This is a misnomer because the black cat is just as lovable as any other cat. Because black cats are not as easily placed, I felt that this color of cat is the ideal subject to represent this month’s theme. In The Dark represents a silhouette profile of a beautiful black cat. The original drawing by terikor was a commission that I decided to have created into note cards.

Hopefully by seeing beautiful images of black cats in art more people will become aware of the need for forever home for them.

Tabby’s Place is one of several charities I donate to with the sale of my cat art. I choose my charities I donate to based on the type of art I am depicting.

Bulldog Halloween Candy Bandit Cards by scrappyrat

Things that go bump in the night...my dog, getting into the Halloween candy! Okay, so my dog is smaller than this one, but she loves to steal plastic pumpkins, whether they're full of candy or not!

This set of 5 cards by scrappyrat are even prettier in person.

This month designated charity items will be donated to the Baldwin County Humane Society ! They foster, vet, and adopt out homeless animals. The goal of the organization is to "eliminate the number of abused and abandoned pets through spay/neuter, education, rescue and adoption."

Cats and the Moon Earrings by chickadeejewelry

When things go bump in the night in our house, it is almost always attributable to one of our three rescue cats, Sean, Jezel, or Lucy! Chickadeejewelry made these earrings in honor of them. I also tried to make them with a bit of a Halloween theme: Cats and the moon.

I am a very busy volunteer with Ca-R-Ma (Cat Rescue Maritimes). We run a trap-neuter-return (TNR) programme for feral cats. We also provide shelter and food when needed. Whenever possible, we foster and adopt out kittens. To date, we have spayed/neutered over 2,000 cats. I regularly donate cat-themed jewelry to Ca-R-Ma with 100% of sales going to the TNR programme. I also volunteer on the anesthetic station at spay/neuter clinics and at adopt-a-thons.

Golden Owl Necklace by scotticohn

Owls can and often do go bump in the night! A golden owl pendant hangs from a black nylon cord strung with teal tortoise crow Czech pressed glass beads, antique gold beads, and blue wooden beads in this necklace by scotticohn.

My support for animal causes includes donations to local shelters as well as specific charities, including Defenders of Wildlife, Big Cat Rescue, Wolf Park, and others. I have also volunteered at shelters in the past and will probably do so in the future.

Spider Ring by ApacheMoon

This bewitching ring by ApacheMoon is appropriate for October's theme, as spiders make people go bump in the night when they run across their webs. (Ok... the silver spiders do not spin webs - but still...)

This past month we were able to donate $140 to Somalia Relief, $48 to Japan WSPA, and $24 to Haiti WSPA. As always, the remainder has gone to rescue and shelter animals here. We have 42 permanent residents and we also have 5 puppies who are almost ready for adoption plus 3 kittens who will probably be well enough to adopt during the coming month. =D

Moon Flight Bat Earrings by ksjewelrydesigns

Bats are some of the most classic creatures that thrive in the night. In these earrings by ksjewelrydesigns, cute little sterling silver antiqued bats fly over 16mm jet Swarovski crystal moons.

Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and all of my non-fish companion animals have been adopted or rescued. My husband and I have become the people our neighbors go to when they see an animal in need, so we can provide emergency care and get them to a proper facility. We're in a rural area, but stop traffic for an animal when we have to, most recently a garter snake! 20% of the money earned from my bat earrings is donated to Bat Conservation International, and 10% of everything else goes to BCI or the Center for Biological Diversity in part to support their Get the Lead Out campaign.

Serenity Print by JenniferLynnProducts

This month's entry of a photo by JenniferLynnProducts illustrates the perfect creepy place. Graveyards are spooky, beautiful places, and they are one of my favorite photographic subjects!

Jennifer Moore of
JenniferLynn Productions, LLC helps animals in a variety of ways. Though she can no longer take in animals, she often donates her art, goods, supplies, and money to many different animal causes.

Crow Print by AlexWijnen

This crow print by alexwijnen is one of my all-time favorites that I've created – and apparently others like it as well since my 8x10 limited edition is almost sold out (just one print left).

I love the mystery around this print, very moody and somewhat spooky with the full moon, yet I tried to make sure the crow himself still looks friendly.

I love animals and have created a cozy nest here in Portland, Oregon, with my hubby, two dogs and two cats, all rescues. As a graphic designer, I'm thrilled to help out the Oregon Humane Society by donating half of my design costs to create their quarterly magazine. They're also my non-profit of choice and $5 of all sales of my dog prints go directly to them. They are 100% privately funded (zero state or federal dollars) so it's even more impressive to me that last year they adopted out over 11,000 cats, dogs, and small animals.

Creepy Cats Dog Collar by caninedesign

The Creepy Cats Collar by caninedesign is every dog's nightmare, making it perfect for Halloween trick-or-treating.

10% of all purchases benefit Lucky Dog Animal Rescue in the Washington, DC area. Lucky Dogs come from high-kill shelters in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. They work with shelter partners in low-income and rural areas where hundreds of highly-adoptable dogs are euthanized each month due to overpopulation problems, lack of spay/neuter education and inadequate funding.

Lucky Dog does not have a shelter facility. All dogs stay with foster homes with volunteers.

Vintage Altered Halloween Apothecary Bottle by QueenBe

This little child and his dog both that adorn this altered bottle by QueenBe are ready to do some serious haunting! There's nothing cuter than a dog in a costume!

My dedication to helping animals includes, but is not limited to, 10% of all my Etsy sales being donated to the ASPCA, and financial contributions to the Genessee County Humane Society in Flint, Michigan. I also promote, support and I am very vocal about the importance of spaying and neutering animals, and adopting shelter pets. Thank you for taking a look!

Black Cat Hat by jessicalynneart

Hark! Who goes there? This little creature is so strange that no one is sure what exactly he is. Some say he is a pug, others a black cat, but there are many who also believe him to be an incarnation of Batman. Could this masked vigilante be the one roaming the streets at night fighting crime?

This Black Cat Hat by jessicalynneart is a great way to allow any dog to show his or her feline or superhero sides.

I do anything and everything I can to help with animals. Running two small businesses while attending college has prevented me from doing as much shelter work as I'd like to, so I do what I can by donating at least $1 of every sale to the Pug Rescue of New England or the MSPCA. I also donate hats, toys, and stationery to shelter and rescue events throughout the year. Aside from that, I am the team's challenge blog volunteer who receives and posts all of your wonderful entries!

Abstract Halloween Print by KneeDeepOriginals

Link
This altered photograph by KneeDeepOriginals features ravens and shadows that complement the spookiness of the October challenge.

As always, I am dedicated to helping the cause of homeless animals in my community and counties beyond by promoting those in shelters and foster homes, by donating portions of my sales to these organizations, and by donating art and music for their benefits, fundraisers, and events.

We currently have three rescue dogs and one rescue cat in our home, some of many we've had over the years, and they are so much a part of our lives, I can't imagine living without their wonderful companionship and love. It is for that reason that I work at educating folks about fostering animals and adopting pets through shelters and rescue orgs. rather than purchasing full bloods from individuals and/or pet stores.

Fruit Bat Silk Tapesty Box by brizel4TheAnimals

Halloween would not been hallow's eve without bats, flying around & swooping down at sunset. Many folks are scared of this bump-in-the-night creature. Are you ?

Fruit Bat is a exquisite soft fiber arts container by brizel4TheAnimals featuring vegan banana silk yarn in variegated yellows, greens & deep reds paired up with a violet cotton hemp yarn. It has a lid of its own which is embellished with a carved ceramic black bat.

When Bat isn't flying around searching for yummy fruit to eat, she loves to hang upside down to sleep... she's stretching out her wings before folding them up to slumber. In animal shamanism, Bat symbolizes important life transitions... that special time period between the end of a phase and a new beginning... rebirth !

This animal Silk Tapestry Art Box measures approx: 3 1/4" in diameter x 2 1/4" high with an interior of 2 3/8" in diameter x 2" high. Its raw silk weight is roughly 1.8 oz (52 g).

***

I own some 20 acres up in the mountains where I have planted orchards and floral gardens. Personal funds are put towards helping to sustain this habitat which attracts birds, butterflies, bees, bats, hummingbirds... and it is also a seasonal mating ground for dragonflies ! Twilight is part of a 2,000 acre ranch out in the chaparral wilderness where wild animals still roam.

I provide a home for my animal rescues, create & maintain habitat for wildlife to prosper, support animal welfare through petition & animal advocacy work, donate 10% of my Silk Tapestry Art Box sales to EFA's Charity of the Month, and promote & support Team EFA members through Etsy Treasuries & the EFA blog. I am also Team Captain, Membership & COTM Leader & Blog Editor for Team EFA !

Halloween ACEO - Art Cards by LolaLynn

This entry from LolaLynn is of an ACEO sized embellished print entitled "The Tickle". The story behind the painting: Sam the cat came to us late in his life. He was the lovable companion of one of our senior citizen friends. She asked us to take care of Sam if anything happened to her. When he came to us he missed Marguerite dreadfully and for some reason found comfort in sleeping on my pillow with his body wrapped around the top of my head. Eventually, he found out that if he wanted his breakfast at the crack of dawn all he had to do was untuck his tail and have it land ever so lightly on my nose. The others caught on and pretty soon they would line up around the bedroom and wait for "the tickle." Good story - right? Except that I guess it makes me a "pumpkin head!"

LolaLynn's etsy shop contributes 10% to EFA's charity of the month program. All of the shops ACEOs can be special ordered in larger sizes - just convo for sizes and prices.

Black Cat Silver Necklace by envydesignsjewelry

To envydesignsjewelry, nothing is more Halloween than a cute black kitty necklace. And since I rescued my most precious black cat Stella just 2 weeks before Halloween (5 years ago), it is even more fitting.

I am a guardian member of Defenders of Wildlife, give regularly to my local Humane Society, and various other animal charities.

Monster Ruggle Blanket by Bewhiskered

What goes bump in the night better than a monster? This one, in the form of a blanket, prefers to be IN the bed with you rather than under it though. :)

I donate 10% of Bewhiskered's annual profits to an animal charity. For 2010 that charity is Pit Bull Rescue Central.
