Baby Feline Tortieshell Handmade Card by dragonhouseofyuen

A beautiful handmade greetings card featuring a cut-out print of my line drawing of a baby feline with tortieshell stars. This card is blank for your own message. The card is A6 in size, 10.5cm x 15cm and comes with a cream coloured envelope. The card is pristine white and has a hammered texture - in the photos you can see the subtle texture. The kitten is raised on 3D foam pads adhered to the white card.

Halloween Dark Reaper Cat 8x10 Print by TaraFlyPhotos

The majority of my works involve cats, with black cats taking preference; however I wanted to create a Halloween-specific design that wasn't the stereotypical "scaredy cat on a fence" or "broom accessory". LOL The Dark Reaper is a powerful force to be reckoned with, in his own right. :)

Using Epson's Velvet Fine Art paper and archival pigment ink, I've printed high quality reproductions of my original acrylic painting. The printed surface measures 8"x10" with a slight white border.

I've been giving a percentage of sales to my local humane society. I was able to donate $25.00 to them last month. I've decided to take a more active role with Charity of the Month, so 10% of "Dark Reaper" sales will go towards EFA monthly charities.

WELCOME MICKY

With the publishing of our most recent post (a challenge entry by brizel4theanimals) Micky of AldanaMica joins the EFA's Challenge of the Month editorial staff. Micky is an artist currently lives in Brazil. I asked Micky to tell us something about her beautiful and unique shop:

"My shop offers one of a kind crochet pieces, accessories and clothing for both women and teenage girls. What makes my product different is the technique I use, I like to call it finger-crochet because it requires no needles, I crochet using only my fingers. I taught this to myself during a design class about 10 yrs ago, we had yarn but no needles so I just played around with my fingers and from then on I barely use needles."

Welcome Micky, your help with the challenge is much appreciated.

LOVE iS THE KEY charming message necklace by brizel4theanimals

LOVE iS THE KEY, or at least it is for me...this charming message necklace spells out this sentiment very nicely and is likely to open the hearts of all whose gaze falls upon it. It is made of silver plated wire, white ceramic alphabet cube beads, tagua nut beads, an eco-friendly petrified wood from the rainforest which is known to have & to hold receptive healing qualities, and a key charm pendant. This is a FUNDRAISER FOR DINGO who is now approximately 17 yrs old. I rescued her from a lifetime of being kept on a chain guarding someone's property. Dingo is in need of a ramp to assist her going up steps, getting unto the bed & into the mini van.

It's Priceless and Evdokia - "you never know which letter will fit!" by dragonhouseofyuen

Priceless had seen an engagement ring so big that he knew would be perfect for Evdokia. One of life’s little luxuries, the type of ring you Want To Keep! So they went to the ring maker to get Evdokia’s size. Priceless sat inside the P but Oh dear! Evdokia got stuck in Size O. and no! she didn’t want to be ‘soaped up’, nor fast for a week. However the ring was very, very beautiful and just perfect for her.

I donate a percentage of some of my sales to help different rabbit rescues and animal charities. In Easter 2009 I donated an Arabella Bag to the Buckeye House Rabbit Society to raise funds for their rescued rabbits. A total of $362 was raised!!!

This is "Snicklefritz" shortened to "Fritzie". He was a pedigreed Pekinese and well loved not only by his family but whomever came in contact with the "little" guy. He had such an air about him and so independent and secure in our love. He lived to be 19 years old. I have written a book about him. I hope you want to purchase it and read it. He was a pleasure to paint.

C is for CAT - original mixed media collage by WindandHoney

This original mixed media collage was created on 6"x 6" artist canvas. It is a creative collaboration between paper, found objects, ink, vintage lace, a tassel strangely resembling a tail, and vintage book pages. They have all joined forces to celebrate the CAT. She offers no other explanation simply that she is a cat. That should be enough. She is the perfect cat - a few scrapes, a frayed edge, and maybe a nick here and there.

A donation will be made to either Shambala Animal Preserve or to the Pets and People Humane Society in Oklahoma. .

F is for - Free Spirit by LonesomeRoadStudio

I just started adding keychains in my Etsy shop, this will be the first of several. It's durable and lightweight polymer clay with mica pigments and protective glazes.

10% of the purchase price of "Free Spirit" will be donated to the EFA Artists Helping Animals charity of the month.

I still have plans in the works for polymer clay pet tags in the future; I'm still working on ideas for that project with proceeds to be donated to local organizations as well as Team EFA charities. I'm also participating in an event sponsored by another Etsy shop for December/Holiday No-Kill Animal Shelter Giveaways to help raise awareness and money for No-Kill Animal Shelters during the holiday season.

B is for Boy - Quilled Bear 8 x 8 Scrapbook Page by EnsorcelledMinds

I decided to try something new with this challenge: a pre-made page. I doubled my alphabet fun by making it for Boys and showing a quilled Bear on it! Wouldn't it be fabulous to have a whole alphabet scrapbook album for your cutie? If only I had the time!

I teach cardmaking classes for a local animal rescue where half the proceeds from the class fee go to the charity and also a portion of kit sales. The charity is Southern Ontario Animal Rescue (SOAR) which is currently focused on canines, since it is entirely run by foster volunteers and space is severely limited. While my shop sales are small dollar items, at least they, along with the classes, pay for a couple microchips and bags of food for an animal in need!

High Hope Hollow by DeepKneeOriginals

It's inspired by the summer with its sun and growth, birdsong, various critters (around my yard lots and lots of lizards, turtles, snakes and deer... as well as the Carolina wrens, bluebirds, cardinals, nuthatches, and owls) and all the wonderful goodies from the garden. The bright, vivid colors in the painting express the joy, vibrancy, and absolute life of the season.

I have two rescue dogs and a rescue cat who are the best pets ever! They love country living and are wonderful companions on walks through the hills and woods (yes, my cat accompanies us from time to time). I participate in the Forsyth County Humane Society biannual fundraiser, Art Unleashed, which raises money through art for the various programs of the Humane Society as well as upkeep and care of the animals housed there.

I also sing in a band and we like to play for fundraisers for causes/organizations that are important to us, including the Humane Society and the more local Animal Rescue of Stokes County. A percentage of the sale of most of my animal-inspired items in my Etsy shop goes to either my local Animal Rescue or the EFA charity of the month.

10% of the purchase price of many of the items in my shop goes to EFA's charity of the month. Other items in LolaLynn's are designated for donations to Etsy for Charity (EFC) and Abandoned Wild Baby Animal Resue (AWBAR).

Celestial Spoon by Lacewood

I think this spoon fits the theme perfectly, as it is an image of a shining sun - stir a little sunshine into your cooking and brighten any meal or any kitchen!

I have been working to raise money through the sales of many items in my shop for Little Miracles Rabbit Rescue. They recently were able to raise the money to insulate the roof of their building to cut down on their air-conditioning bill, which is a great long-term money saver for them! They are in Florida where it gets pretty hot - and bunnies don't tolerate heat well, so air conditioning is a must! I am very proud of all of the work they have done in refurbishing their new shelter this year, and all of the bunnies they have found forever homes for! But as always, there is much more work to be done, and many more bunnies to help. They're doing a great job.

Orange Cat print by animalsincolor

The orange cat seems to fit very well with the "Let the Sun Shine" theme, both in its bright sunny colors and in the description I had created for it. I live in the Tuscan countryside and, besides giving donations to local animal shelters and associations, together with my young veterinarian neighbour Carlo (such a blessing to have him near when my cat and dog need urgent care!) I tend to the local wildlife, feeding the birds and offering food and shelter to wounded animals. Have a great sunny summer! Sebastiano

Mimosa by TheModDog

This collar is bursting with bright yellow and gold sunshiny goodness. Its whimsical 1" traditional buckle collar features a golden yellow and orange circle design on brown nylon webbbing. It also has a strong plastic side release buckle and a D-ring for attaching tags. All collars are fully adjustable and triple stitched at stress points to prevent breaking and prolong durability.

I volunteer for the Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue (www.atlantalovesweims.org) in Atlanta, GA. I help out with adoption days, transport dogs, and also donate collars and a portion of my sales to this rescue. I also donate collars to other rescues, like Boston's By the Bay http://www.bostonsbythebay.com/

Orange YOU glad I had some Sun today 5x7 digital archival print by aktie9

This is a tiger lily blossom taken up close, with a macro lense on my digital camera. I have these in several other shades in my flickr account, for other options. Seek Aktie9 on flickr.

I donate 10% of sales from my etsy shop to charities. This summer I'm giving 100% of the proceeds on my Polar Bear photos to the ecotarium.org to help with the resident Polar bear, Kenda and her care.

I also do some work with rescues, getting the word out, passing messages along to folks. I fostered a dog for two years, I've given rides to dogs needing to get to safe havens. I have two rescued dogs, of my own. One I found on the city streets, one I adopted via http://www.occretrieverrescue.com/ .

I'm also pairing up with a person I met through the Plea for Bea Fund drive, and Facebook, to make a group on facebook, possibly elsewhere that rescue minded folks can join along with all the rescue organizations. This way the rescue people can get the word to the rescues, and rescues can get messages to folks who can raise money for them, send messages to their friends and so forth. It's a effort to get across helping others idea, and to make it easier for us all to network and band together. It will likely be called S.N.A.R.E AKA: SNARE - Social Networking Animal Rescue Ethic. It's still in the preliminary stages so I will defenitely let EFA know when we've got it up and running.

4 inch square Acrylic Cat Painting by haleyshandmades

This tiny cat painting measures 4 inches square and is 3/4 inches deep and is varnished. I used acrylic paints on canvas. The image is of my orange tabby cat sitting in one of our windows at our house with the sun shining in on her.

It's not necessary for it to be framed because the edges are painted a very dark brown and has a d-ring on the back to hang. If you don't like the look of the D-ring showing, you could tie a ribbon on the ring so that it is hidden while hanging.

I donate 5% or more to local animal shelters and rescues.

ACEO Desert Sunrise original watercolor by MyUnrulySun

My house faces a mountain range, and when I let the dogs out in the morning (before I crawl back into bed) I like to stay a minute and look at the sun peeking up over the mountains. I love how it looks like it's spilling "liquid sunshine" down the contours of the hills, like a river of light. This is my more colorful interpretation of that view.

This ACEO is pen and watercolor on matboard. This is an original, OOAK, not a print!

I co-run a non-profit called Feed the Beast (find us on Facebook!). We started out trying to foster cats, but we ended up keeping them rather than adopting them out, so now we sell products to raise money to donate to other area animal rescue groups and to fund emergency health care to stray animals. Example: my husband saw a dog who had been hit by a car sitting in the middle of the road. Everyone was driving around it instead of helping. So he picked up the dog and took him to the ER vet an hour and a half away and Feed the Beast was able to pick up the tab

Sunshine Fun Vintage Baby Animal Crib Size Quilt by faeriegood

I machine embroidered these wonderful vintage baby animal motifs, 9 in all with top quality Isacord threads made in Germany. There's a puppy, kitty, calf, lamb, kid, turtle, piglet, duckling and bunny. In all there are twelve blocks so some are repeated in different colors. The piecing for the quilt is done using many different pastel child prints of 30's all new reproduction quilt shop quality cotton fabrics. The backing is soft orange and creme print so it will work for girls or boys. Warm and natural 100% cotton batting was used for the middle layer. It has been machine quilted using meandering, stitch in the ditch and several different decorative quilting stiches, all done with nylon thread so as not to distract from the beautiful embroidery. The double fold binding was hand sewn for the best possible finish. It measures 52x38 inches.

10% will be donated to EFA's charity of the month.

Thinking Rhinos --Support the EFA July Charity by faeriegood

Made of thirsty 100% cotton terry cloth, this bright and cheerful bib has a cute Rhinosaurus machine embroidery that is sure to make your toddler smile. It has strong, ample ties to allow for growth, and no need to worry about velcro loosing it's grip with this one. Can be machine laundered and will hold up for many life times of use.It has been washed in eco friendly soap.

The material that forms the border and backing is a beautiful multicolored batik and the center embroidery depicts a lovely rhino scene and is framed in quarter inch satin ribbon to match the thread in the motif. They form a self fringe on the four corners for added interest and whimsy. The cover has a zipper closure and can be removed for gentle hand laundering and should be laid flat to dry and touched up with a cool iron for best results. The pillow form is 14" square and contains polyfil it was purchased new for this project.

I will donate 10% of the profit from the sale of these items to help Support the July Charity of the Month: Save the Rhino International http://www.savetherhino.org/ Save The Rhino International works to conserve viable populations of critically endangered rhinos in Africa and Asia. We recognise that the future of wildlife is inextricably linked to the communities that share its habitat. By funding field projects and through education, our goal is to deliver material, long-lasting and widespread benefits to rhinos and other endangered species, ecosystems and to the people living in these areas.

Beach Kitty by LolaLynn

Beach Kitty is a print of my original acrylic ACEO painting. Printed on card stock, each card is hand embellished with acrylic paint to give it that personal touch.

"Beach Kitty" was inspired by Rebekah's Japanese cat, Gumi. When Beka lived in Yokohama, Gumi miraculously turned up during "typhoon #17." He was beat up and cut and looked like a grey kitten. Some of her students helped her find a veternarian and then with the translation. What a surprise to find such beautiful deep auburn fur under all that dirt. He has a little knob on the end of his tail and looks like all of the other toms that inhabit Maita, a suburb of Yokohama. Gumi is fully Americanized now and hangs out with all of the other surfer cats at nearby Jones Beach.

10% of LolaLynn's sales (unless otherwise designated) go to EFA's charity of the month.

Turtles at the lake by tumbleweedstudios

This image was captured at a lake where there were about four turtles sunbathing, but my camera shied away two of them, so I ended up capturing the perfect couple, that was a great day! The image has a subtle digital enhance to it. Printed on a smooth fine art archival paper with (of course) archival inks.

I donate to the Irvine Animal Care Center, a local shelter where I have taken rescued cats in the past.

Yellow Bird Collection - Set Of Three Pillows by TwoStrayCats

What could be more summery than brightly colored yellow birds singing their little hearts out as the sun comes up.

I am a fairly new member to the EFA team and absolutely loving being a part of such a wonderful group of like-minded people.

I have created select pieces that are in my shop section called EFA ~ Etsy For Animals where 100% of the profits go toward helping animals in need. I split the donations I make mainly between a cat charity here in Alberta Canada called The Happy Cat Sanctuary as well as the chosen EFA Charity Of The Month. I also donate 10% from all my other sales to animal charity.

Last month (which was my first month as part of the EFA team) I was lucky enough to be able to make a donation to both The Happy Cat Sanctuary as well as the June EFA Charity ~ for the rabbits and guinea pigs. Although in real life the kitties, bunnies and guineas would not get along, here in the world of EFA all animals are equal.

ACEO Siamese Cat - Fun in the Sun by WindandHoney

This ACEO is a picture of our beloved Mufasa, aka Fasa, enjoying the morning sunshine on the patio. He had a wonderful personality and lived to be 11 years old. Six of those years we spent much time each and every day doing various medical treatments to keep him going in the midst of a chronic genetic health problem. Between traditional medicine, alternative medicine, and lots of love and his own strong will to live, he had a happy life during those years. He is now enjoying the sunshine in heaven and we miss him terribly.

I have been involved in animal rescue in one form or another for most of my adult life. My current involvement is through fund raising with my art and the occasional creature that hops across my path demanding my immediate attention for rescue.

Bunnies in the Wildflowers Etsy Shop Banner and 4 Avatars by WingsDove

This design of wild rabbits playing in the wild grasses and wild flowers came to mind when I read about the July theme of "Sun and Summer Animal Friends." To me, this seems like a good fit for July.

Most of my contributions over the years have been to the Humane Society of the U.S.. I think the HSUS is accomplishing much in bringing animal cruelty out into the open and working in Washington, D.C. to pass laws to protect animals in the wild.

ModJess---Scrabble Tile Pendant---DESERT PRAIRIE DOG

An adorable Albuquerque Prairie Dog stands against a subtle background of cacti and sun to fit our July Challenge theme: Sun and SummerAnimal Friends.

I photographed this little prairie dog in my neighborhood, where one of many urban colonies of prairie dogs struggles to survive. Thanks to Prairie Dog Pals, a local Albuquerque non-profit, they receive food donations (which they need to survive) and relocations (when their habitat is threatened).

Right now, Prairie Dog Pals is in urgent need of donations to help relocate a colony of prairie dogs that a church is threatening to destroy.

Thanks for helping me to spread the word. More info can be found here: http://www.prairiedogpals.org/news/index.html

Butterfly T-Shirt for American Girl Doll by chicadolly

This is a cute little t-shirt with a butterfly embroidery that I made for 18' dolls. I think it fits the June bug theme perfectly. I am hoping to help promote EFA in this new shop and you may already know me from my faeriegood shop which was my first here at etsy. My 2 nine year old grand daughters were the inspiration for this new shop and I hope to branch out and add stuffed animals and other items, which will help the cause of new rescues that efa chooses to highlight in the coming months. Thanks for your support!

Butterfly Thinking - Single Handmade Greeting Card by EnsorcelledMinds

How it fits the theme: I've started trying my hand at my own die cuts on my new electronic cutter. I had this Boss Kut butterfly design so I came up with my natural habitat to place it in on my own! 10% of this listing will go to the EFA Charity of the Month, so if you send this card to someone you are thinking of, you will also be thinking of nature and the animals!

About myself: This card can be found in the "Magic of Charity" section of my Etsy shop where I have various listings with a percentage going to animal charities. Some support the EFA charities of the month and some support S.O.A.R.: Southern Ontario Animal Rescue which is a charitable dog rescue in my local area.

closer necklace by LonesomeRoadStudio

What do you want to get closer to?

A luna moth, attracted to a briliant flame, is the centerpiece of the "Closer" necklace. The luna moth, handcrafted in polymer clay then hand-painted in luminous shades of greens and teal accented with silver, is 2-3/4 (7cm) inches wide and 3 inches (7.5cm) long (including the stunning Swarovski crystal "flame").

5% of the purchase price of "Closer" will be donated to the EFA Artists Helping Animals charity of the month, and an additional 5% will be donated to VanishingBees.com, a group working to promote awareness and research of Colony Collapse Disorder in the honeybee population.

Congratulations LonesomeRoadStudio! This piece sold before it was posted in the blog.

Ladybug Picnic by TheModDog

This adorable 1" wide martingale collar has a yellow ladybug design on sturdy red nylon webbing. It also has a heavy D-ring for attatching tags. All collars are triple stitched at stress points to prevent breaking and prolong durability. It fits the theme of June bugs because it has ladybugs crawling all over it.

I am volunteer from the Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue http://www.atlantalovesweims.org/ in Atlanta,GA. I help out with adoption days, pull and transport dogs from shelters, and also donate collars and a portion of my sales to this rescue. I have also donated collars to other rescues like Bostons By the Bay Rescue http://www.bostonsbythebay.com/

Dance of the Fireflies - original, framed by WindandHoney

I am from the midwestern US and we have bugs that are actually called Junebugs. But since they kind of resemble flying pinto beans, they aren't very artistically inspiring. So I chose another summer bug - fireflies or lightning bugs as we called them when I was little. We would go out at night and they would fly by with their little backsides all lit up. We would hop and dance around trying to catch them. If you could get one, they would light up inside your hand and you could see their light through your fingers.

I donate 10% of my profits from the sale of my art to animal charities. This would be from any of my art, not just the etsy shop. I also often donate artistic services or completed pieces to local groups for fundraisers.
